This page can help guide you on which grammar you don’t know yet, and which ones you want to study. The most important or frequently used grammar points are listed at the top. Click the title of each grammar point to goto the corresponding blog post.

For each grammar point I give a couple of English sentences to illustrate when you might need to use this grammar.


-게 하다

-니까
I saw that it was snowing when the planed landed
After making bibimbap for the first time it was easier than I thought

Advanced quotation expressions (한대, 한다는데, 한다면서, 한다잖아)

-보니까
Seeing that I don’t have any money, I can’t afford to buy good stuff for my kids
As I was eating it I saw that it wasn’t my order

-다고
Just because you’re smart doesn’t mean you’re always right
Don’t look down on me just because I’m poor

-어치/치
Can I have 500g of spinach?
How much is one weeks worth of meal cost?

Expanding on 아/어보이다
This sounds, feels, tastes, smells strange or familiar

-더라
I talked back rudely to my mum and saw that she was upset
I watched 곡성 and saw that it was really scary

-더니
(I saw that) She got angry and then hit her son
(I saw that) my computer was slowing down and now its dead

-겠다
What would you do if you were me?
Who would wanna go on a date with you?
